I feel catch a cold... so I don't know where I start to say or what I say, I just want to spit out after setting this shockable thinking.

An unemployed man I think it has kind of meaning. I know I should say after I get a stabile job, but Im still an unemplyed man(Exactly Im a university student for 9 years, and I have one more semester.) and Im embarrassed to say like this.

Anyway... let us proceed, why I said like that is, I thought I had a chance to spend lots of time to think about my future, dream, and game director by unemployed man.

I have lots of questions, and lots of things I want, lots of my complaint.

"Why?" that I started lots of things from that, it's around my head so deeply, I got an answer something, I couldn't get an answer something, and finally, it's shooting in my head like an empty echo.

From them, one of the best problem is about "Which Posion of game".

Lots of people still think that game is just killing time, or just for kid, or wasting time. Extremly, it's useless.

We said that book is a report of knowledge, musician sing life, a film maker take life with the camera. How about game?

I just think the word when I had job interview. Game is just fun. That's it.

It's true. but, that's all. No, it's problem. It's the big problem of Korean game market.

Company GameLab, Game Diner Dash, and Peter Lee. It's just proper nouns which I heard the first time today. But I realize that I was shocked from their story.

Why not to think the game such as movie, music, or book? Why we can't learn life from the game. Why people don't think game can't deal with various things.

However, who suggests for my some of question is, Peter Lee.

The blog that usually treats Indie Game, Pig-Min : Post Inde Gaming posted Interview with Peter Lee make me think so deeply.

Here is a part of interview.(I translated)
5. Gamelab is not just company for casual game, I heard that you also work on "Nonprofit / After School Program". Could you explain about them?

Gamelab is the company that was founded to explore possibility of game for new media, and it's different from general developer that get funds for specific game development. Therefore, for deviator from limitation of a commercial game, we have various activity in various atmosphere besides development of a commercial game.

Of course we usually make money from developing casual game for business, and also game developing for exhibit of art gallery, with nonprofit organization for social problem, education program for students such as highschool, a lecture about game development and game design for a bachelor and Master, writing a book about game design, etc, so we try to make various activities theoretically, practically for function of game.

Since last May, a program which has gotten funds from MacArthur Foundation in U.S.A is the part of Media Literacy which will be important in the future, we're developing the game to teach the Game Design through Game Play. A scale of fund is, in a fund for game from the foundation of U.S.A, the largest. However meaningful thing is that image of game was started to change from simple amusement to social interests and appreciation about an affirmative role by media.

The game, Ayiti which was developed with nonprofit organization, "Global Kids" last year, was about difficulty of basic education which is a right of human beings, in economical poverty. It got an attention with Games for Change, and won Best Awareness-Raising Game in Games For Change Festival in 2007.

For looking for more possibility and various activity by media, we have founded Gamelab Institute of Play which is a nonprofic affiliated company with Gaming Literacy early this year. What I want to explain from this, beneficial game means not educational media by game form of edutainment genre, it means to delivery educational or beneficial part that game has, in the game. We're preparing various project, at first, it is foundation game theme middle-highschool in New York in the fall of 2009. In recently U.S.A, there are lots of problems after changing to cramming and memory education. The school which we're preparing, is not to teach game development, just to make creative education through game design.

Gamelab has a fame for unique and future-oriented Game Design Company, because of various activities such as that.
Sometimes when I talk with Korean in Korea, I've heard this so much. "It doesn't make money. You can make money..." I think it's difference from culture which is Quick-Oriented Korean. Right, it seems not to be related to the company directly, but such as these various activities help the company to make a fame and difference from the other company and to grow up steady, so I think it's good investment for the company.

The person who I've worked together before, said surely, if you want to get money, don't come to here. To make money..... Will I be satisfied how much I make? Anyway thinking is endless, and greed is also endless. That's why I don't think such as that. If I have money, it's so good, or If I don't have money, it's also good, C'est La Vie!

While I was think about a game, I came out to think like this, so Im complicated, but I just got surely conclusion that, about a game I should have a passion!!!

Although a passion is not at all for developing a game, but without a passion, we can't develop a game, and this is game development.

... anyway, I don't know what I told, and what is related to each other. but I feel better to know such as him, and I also seem to have a goal dimly.

Well... just in my opinion....

sure that... should not ignore the taste of the public. I mean, developing games what the public want is so natural, it's not wrong. Nowadays, which genre the public like, is FPS, and I think it's hard to change to the other genre for a long time.

If Im just a gamer, I don't mind who tell this or that. Who cares if game is so fun?

But if it's from developer's point of view, we should think so seriously I think.

Lots of people enjoy FPS nowadays, and some of them become game developers, and they develop FPS, it's sure things, it's not wrong. People who like FPS develop FPS. How fantastic harmony!!!

However, the problem is that there are lots of people like that. The situation that most will develop only FPS.

All of game developers want to develop a game from their idea. It's absolutely sure. But there are lots of cases not to develop like that in real game market. So that's why MMORPG grew up so quickly, and Online Game market. And I also don't like that game development atmosphere in real game market.

and that's why I like Nintendo.

In the news, the scale of Korean game market is tons of billion, and it's already won the movie industry, but just in my opinion, it's a babe in the woods and an empty promise.

Game development is kind of business, and in business, you surely should think about money. However, we should think over Yoshiki Okamoto(Street Fighter's developer)'s word that there is a product such as considering marketability on the other hand, we should develop games which jump over common sense that make game industry wholesome.
